This individual will be responsible for overseeing the Group Fitness Program including recruiting & evaluating instructors, managing the group fitness budget, teaching at least five classes per week, and marketing the group fitness classes to members. In addition, he/she will devise and implement progressive and individualized exercise prescriptions and programs for clientele in a safe, effective and appropriate manner based upon physiological and structural assessment, medical history, and individual?s goals and objectives. Exercise Specialists also stay actively involved in wellness programs for their members, in the form of competitions, screenings, newsletters and fitness fairs. Requirements: A bachelor's degree in Exercise Science or a related field is preferred. Current CPR and First Aid certifications plus one or more certifications from the following organizations are required: ACSM, ACE, NSCA, NASM and NATA. Group leadership and motivational skills as demonstrated by audition. Basic understanding of fitness testing and evaluation concepts, exercise equipment mechanics and proper body alignment. Demonstration of organization, communication and service oriented skills. 3+ years experience as personal trainer or fitness floor supervisor. 1+ years teaching group exercise.
