Job Title: Summer Camp Coordinator

This individual will serve as coordinator of summer camping program for youth ages 9-12, and as a liaison with summer staff and full-time faculty. The Coordinator will provide creative leadership in the execution, management and evaluation of summer camping program including a variety of educational and recreational programs conducted during 4-H Summer Camp. The Coordinator will supervise summer staff in providing a safe, educational environment for youth attending camp and support 4-H professionals, volunteers and members in conducting meaningful educational experiences to help youth develop social skills. The Coordinator must work cooperatively with Camp Director and weekly Camp Manager to insure the success and safety of weekly camps. This position will also serve as the Recreational Coordinator and will be responsible for coordinating weekly scheduled activities including Monday afternoon registration with parish agents, as well as assisting with training of track instructors and summer staff. This individual needs to be committed to the holistic development of young people by involving campers in all scheduled educational activities while in session and at camp and encouraging all campers to join in and try new activities. Works under the direct supervision of the Camp Director of Grant Walker 4-H Educational Center to implement all policies and procedures of the LSU AgCenter and the Louisiana 4-H Youth Development program. This person must work well under pressure, have organizational and problem solving skills, must be effective in working with individuals and groups within and outside the professional staff of Cooperative Extension including: volunteers, 4-H and non-4-H youth, older adults, donors and other organizations. Must present an enthusiastic and positive role model for youth. Must be willing to work long hours, including nights.
